&#x3C;p&#x3E;Chapter Forty-Three:&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Green Band Pt. II&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Awhile later, we packed our stuff up to return to the village. A loud ruckus caught the two of our attention.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Ahhhhh!&#x201D; A man screamed in agony from a distance. Doc and I rushed with the samples to the scream. I heard a familiar voice that was Aly&#x2019;s in the general area. The two of us arrived and were too late.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;The smell of burnt flesh and electricity made me want to puke out. The massive green wall surrounding the jungle was glowing. I could see Aly lying beside the burnt carcass in a raw of emotions. I threw up the moment Aly looked over and said the captain was dead.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;The three of us heard a loud explosion coming from the far distance afterwards.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Why? What is going on?&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;My body began to freeze as the wristband signaled with a distress signal from the other group. I fell to the ground in disbelief of what was happening. Ignard said this world could bring out the true side of humanity.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Calum! Calum look at me! Get it together&#x2026; We will come get him later, but now we have to check on the others,&#x201D; I heard Aly try to bring me back to the moment.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;I stood up but went into the opposite direction of Aly and Doc.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Calum what the hell are you doing?&#x201D; Doc asked in a frustrating tone.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;I held the back of Brogden&#x2019;s head and began to use the powers I was gifted with. The green aura surrounded my hands and the captains face.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Don&#x2019;t worry captain! I will save you,&#x201D; I said as the other two rushed to the distress signal.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Minute after minute&#x2026; I continued to try my best to heal and save the carcass. I had time to perform any lifesaving treatment and was determined to do so. I had to be a doctor I wanted to be.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Nothing is working&#x2026; Come on you cannot quit!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Seven minutes passed and still the captain, through all my efforts did not draw a single breathe of life. I fell to the ground behind me in shock. I held the back my head and begun to blame solely myself for what happened.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;It&#x2019;s my fault&#x2026; If I was a here a second sooner&#x2026; I could&#x2019;ve&#x2026; I am sorry Captain,&#x201D; I muttered, while tears flew down my face. I grabbed the captain&#x2019;s wristband and begun to make my way to the signal.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;The distance felt like running a marathon but in hindsight I was running for about twenty minutes. I began to see an old temple behind the large trees. I heard the collision of swords and battle cries after.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;I finally made it outside of the brush and my eyes expanded from the continuous horrors.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;I am late&#x2026; Again!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;The pain in my chest continued to grow tremendously. The view was hard to watch at first. My comrades were in aguish from my tardiness, I could not do a thing.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;The whole team who went to scout the temple, were slaughtered on the bridge by an overwhelming number of serpents. I looked at the dense pool and noticed Admiral Steele battling every serpent with her two katanas.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Rosen! Do not worry about me&#x2026; Listen, Wolfe and Browning went into the Serpent temple. GO!&#x201D; She yelled as one serpent bit into her shoulder.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;She quickly sliced it, while my feet were frozen, she yelled again. I wanted to help again but I was powerless to even save the captain.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;I ran with the amount of stamina I had left. I climbed the large staircase and saw an entrance from the top. I quickly slid down the rope the two inside left.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;I am here Aly! Doc! Where are you guys?&#x201D; I yelled as the dark room lit up.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Calum! Run&#x2026;&#x201D; I heard Aly yell towards me. She was being held hostage by a pale woman and a man with a large katana.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Oh, another one comes to bite the dust.&#x201D; I heard the woman laugh to herself. She quickly licked her lips, while I heard a painful cough from behind.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Doc!?&#x201D; I called out to him, as he laid on the ground losing a great amount of blood.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;He had been slashed by the katana man on his chest. I heled him firmly and tried to heal him, but the doctor refused my aid.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;Why are you refusing?&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Calum listen to me&#x2026;&#x201D; He said coughing out blood again. &#x201C;It&#x2019;s too late for all of us, but your able to escape yourself. I understand you tried to save Captain and everyone. Great doctors know when a situation is dire. Your smart and you see the situation you are in. I know you will make great discoveries&#x2026; Your still young&#x2026;&#x201D; Doc held the back of my head as he fell lifeless to the ground.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;Pitiful,&#x201D; I heard the man with the katana say before he took a slice out of Aly from behind. She slowly fell to the ground whispering for me to run again.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x201C;No&#x2026; Why&#x2026;&#x201D; I whispered to myself, while the emotions continued to build. I was enraged but powerless to do a thing.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;I heard a loud stomp coming behind the two as the two fell to a knee. A door majestically opened and slowly a figure appeared from the dark.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;Two large serpent heads appeared from the door. Their eyes a soleless black, while their scales were an albino white. The two were followed by another pair of heads. Finally, the other half of the being appeared which put me in a shocked frenzy.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;The body of a ten foot and muscular man appeared with a scaled chiseled chest. He had lengthy arms with two fingers on each hand. Both had a serpent jaw at the end of them. His broad shoulders had two other serpents moving around as well. His face was a sickly young man though. He had silky black hair and a beard wrapped in a bun also. One eye was golden like serpent, another was a soleless black.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;This is&#x2026; This is- him? The Serpent King!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Ehh? I thought they were all dead&#x2026; I must have come out two soon then.&#x201D; The creature said.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;My King&#x2026; You should be resting? The katana wielder said to the Serpent King.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Huh? Where is the fun in that? Besides he won&#x2019;t be alive much longer. Venom arrows!&#x201D; The Serpent King yelled shooting a purple substance out of the two serpents on his shoulders.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;Get out of here Calum! Move&#x2026;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;I ducked and an opening was made from the venoms steam. I bolted for the exit and looked back at the three.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;You may run now but you can never escape our army boy,&#x201D; the Serpent King yelled at me. &#x201C;I am Serpent King Andica&#x2026; Remember me for when we meet again.&#x201D;&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;I heard the laughter behind me as I bolted towards the bridge. When I approached the bridge, I looked down at the Admiral who was no longer there. I kept running until I made it past the bridge.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;I saw some of the tribal soldiers from the villagers arrive on the other side of the bridge. I slipped and fell until one of them helped me up.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Get the champion to our village. Hurry!&#x201D; I heard a solider yell as half of the soldiers stayed back. The other half ran with me.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;Forgive me! Forgive me, everyone!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x2026;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;With that said&#x2026; That is what happened to my guild. We never were aware of the deadly surroundings and took this world lightly. I was a coward&#x2026;&#x201D; I told Jai, holding my head in disgrace.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;I let my comrades die and I escaped without saying a world. The villagers hate champions because I never left this village after that day.&#x201D; I continued until I saw Jai drop his head.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Really?&#x201D; I heard him quietly say.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Huh?&#x201D; I responded off guard.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;Jai stood up after listening to my story, an hour passed, the operation was close to beginning. He moved over to his friend and put his arm around her. He stood still after releasing her and finally turned to me.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;You are not a coward&#x2026; Your braver than I was in that same moment. Calum what was the Serpent Kings name again?&#x201D; Jai asked.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Andica!&#x201D; I answered as he held his chin.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Calum would you leave this village if we kicked his ass?&#x201D; Jai questioned me.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;I was in disbelief, as my eyes began to water. I shook my head but stated how impossible it was.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;I will personal go kick his ass for you and then after that Calum&#x2026;&#x201D; he hesitated.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;After that then what?&#x201D; I asked.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;He looked at me and smiled brightly.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;You have to join our guild, so we can go home! We could rescue your friends at this resurrection tower we found out about!&#x201D; Jai answered as everything fell silent but made sense.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;You&#x2019;ll fight him? For me? Why?&#x201D; I asked so many questions from his kindness.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;He held my shoulder and helped me up all the way.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Were all friends in this world, so we have to help each other out. You aren&#x2019;t a burden or alone anymore,&#x201D; Jai said before water flew down my face in relief. &#x201C;Now will be back soon,&#x201D; He said leaving through the bunker entrance.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;I thought back on what he said to Yalti, after he left.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;My faith is in you then&#x2026; Jai Marshall!&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Lloyd&#x2026; We&#x2019;re going to go and kick Serpent King Andica&#x2019;s ass!&#x201D; Jai told Lloyd who was sitting next to the bunker entrance. He quietly stood up and threw his kimono over his shoulder.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;&#x201C;Way ahead of you,&#x201D; Lloyd responded.&#x26;nbsp;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x9;The people of the village were ready to attack. The battle to defeat the Serpent King Andica and his army was underway.&#x3C;/p&#x3E;&#x3C;p&#x3E;&#x3C;br&#x3E;&#x3C;/p&#x3E;
